Our Story
It all began on a stormy November morning. I turned in my cozy womb looked at all the remaining eggs and said “THERE WILL BE NO MORE.” I knew what had to be done. I burned that mother to the ground on my way out. Literally. I Almost killed us both, but I secured my place as the baby in my family.
WOAH! What a weird intro. whooo! calm down. Just tell the nice people who are on your site, probably here to hire you, uhh that you’re normal… maybe… sort of? Just tell them who you are!
Hi! my name is Deborah, I am an actress, a musician, an artist, and occasionally I write eccentric stories. I have a degree in vocal performance and music education, also a glowing bonafide certificate of graduation from THE MEISNER CENTER. I moved to LA in 2005 and I haven’t left… yet. I participate in local musicals, theatre productions, and even play roller derby with the LA DERBY DOLLS. (yea, it’s pretty cool)
What’s at my core? To jump right in, Love. that sounds ewwwy goowy but it’s true. I blame this cassette tape I had as a kid called Music Machine. I listened to that thing nonstop. In the bathtub, while I was sleeping, it was my playroom companion. These kids were on an adventure in Agapeland. Agape is the deep and profound sacrificial love that transcends and persists regardless of circumstance. Thank you wikipedia for that definition, or as I knew it, Unconditional love. So these kids happen upon all these fun songs that promote a healthy love response to wild situations. The soundtrack of my whole life became that cassette tape, the greatest gift of all is love. Then as I got older I had to sing “Nature Boy” in an opening of a school play in 2002. You know what I’m about to say, “the greatest thing in all the world is just to love and be loved in return.” honestly that line stuck. It was also used in Moulin Rouge, so it’s not an especially extraordinary revelation for a 14 year old. But it drove it home. To me, love wins. always.
I was raised without heavy connections in my latin or native american indigenous roots. It’s important to me to have these histories, stories, characters, cultures, and connections out on the screen for everyone to see. I want my people to see themselves as main characters, as the love interest, as the heros. Then I want people, as in everyone, to see that a diverse and inclusive world is possible, in the workforce and on the screen. This probably won’t happen feasibly for generations past mine, but I am willing to be a mere drop in the ocean.
I love acting. I need acting. I was born for it. You can tell from my dramatic description from above. yes yes, I have dreams of making it to the big time. Broadway. The BIG SCREEN. A Netflix series. A DISNEY PRINCESS. Those aren’t going away. But, I have learned to pour myself into more than just those dreams. Make every step, every relationship count. Life is a huge canvas, and this painting isn’t done yet!
